Who led Pioneering Research on ICF Cerebral Palsy


"In June, 2013, WHO International invited Dr. Anjan Bhattacharya as a global expert to establish Core Sets of ICF (International Classification of Functioning) for Cerebral Palsy as pioneering model in children. British Columbia University, Vancouver, Canada, was the venue for this global exercise by 26 experts in the world. This was published in May, 2014. For the next 2 years, cultural validation studies were conducted. Dr. Anjan Bhattacharya from Child Development Centre (CDC), Apollo Multispeciality Hospital (AMH), Kolkata, jointly led this pioneering global study involving 2 Pakistani universities (Karachi and Lahore) , 1 Sri Lankan University (Colombo) and 4 Indian Institutes including National Institute for Mentally Handicapped (NIMH), Max Hospital, Delhi, ADAPTA, Mumbai and CDC, AGH, Kolkata.

Findings of these studies along with qualitative component from Poland were presented together with British Columbia University, Vancouver, Canada, at International Conference on Cerebral Palsy and other Childhood-onset Disabilities, Stockholm, on 1st June, 2016. This has motivated Argentina, Spain, Thailand, Maldova and about 10 countries to follow suit.
